The seventh episode of the US science fiction crime drama Life on Mars, known as The Man Who Sold the World, was first broadcast on 20 November 2008 produced by 20th Century Fox Television and ABC Studios for ABC.

Synopsis[]

While investigating the abduction of a child, Sam discovers some disturbing information about his own father, as well as the real reason he disappeared for good on the day of Sam's fourth birthday party.

Notes[]

  • This episode is an adaptation of the eighth episode of the British version of the series. The US version changes the crime in which Vic Tyler is involved from a murder to a child kidnapping, and adds Vic's shooting of Sam at the episode's climax. The cliffhanger sequence with which the episode ends is also original to the US series.
  • The title of the episode is based on the 1970 David Bowie song "The Man Who Sold the World", which was later covered by Nirvana.
