The New York City Police Department (also known as New York Police Department, and often abbreviated to N.Y.P.D. or NYPD) is the police force responsible for the five boroughs of New York City. Each borough consists of Precincts (police stations). Currently, the NYPD is the largest police force in the United States. In the dream worlds of 1973 and 2008, Det. Sam Tyler worked at the 125 Precinct of the NYPD.
