Greater Manchester Police (often abbreviated to GMP) is the current police force of the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester, including the city of Manchester. The Greater Manchester Police was formed in 1974 following a merge between the Manchester and Salford Police and parts of the Lancashire Constabulary and Cheshire Constabulary.
